Job Description:

We are specifically looking to appoint someone whose interest and expertise include marine law generally and the international law of the sea in particular. You will also be expected to fulfil the administrative functions typically associated with the level at which you are appointed

Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing academic leadership and service in the Institute of Marine and Environmental Law and in the Department of Public Law generally, including curriculum development, appropriate to the level of appointment.
  • Maintaining a research profile and publication output commensurate for level of appointment.
  • Supervising Master’s and doctoral students (as appropriate to the level of appointment).
  • Teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the Department of Public Law in international and domestic marine and environmental law as required by the Department, including courses offered outside of the Faculty of Law.
  • Contributing to university, faculty and departmental activities and administrative responsibilities appropriate to the level of appointment

Job Requirements:

  • Lecturing experience in marine and environmental law or equivalent relevant experience;
  • A doctoral degree or equivalent level of scholarship specialising in marine and environmental law;
  • Track record of socially responsive activities, public and professional service.
  • Evidence of administrative experience;
  • Demonstrable capacity to supervise at a postgraduate level;
  • A strong and consistent record of publications in marine and environmental law appropriate to the level of Associate Professor;
